Road Kill
A dear carcass sits along Sunshine Road in Montgomery County, MD, after (most likely) getting hit and killed by a vehicle. After buzzards devoured a fitting meal, the hoofs were the only body part left of the deer.
This project is somewhat similar to going on a daily scavenger hunt, without a list. So you find yourself looking around, more than you would do otherwise. I drove past this scene early this morning. About 20 yards of the road I saw the remains of the deer sticking out of the frozen ground. So I referenced it in my head. On the way home later, I drove into the field and the first thought was , “No photo here.” Until I got on top of it and saw the hoofs. Photo © 2010 by Andres R. Alonso
